- Develop scalable synthetic processes to reduce costs of drugs of interest, from ideation of the experiments that need to be run to execution in CHAI’s laboratory.- Ability and desire to work in the laboratory is essential.- Develop and run analytical methods to test outcome of experiments.- Document the outcome of lab work in technical papers and reports. Communication and transfer of results to manufacturers and to partners. - Maintain instruments and equipment. Programmatic and Strategic:- Responsible for setting a long-term vision for CHAI’s work in DRC aligned with MoH priorities, advising government programs on priorities to address the greatest needs with the highest impact strategies, and implementing CHAI’s strategy and program portfolio in DRC in collaboration with the MoH- Lead CHAI’s efforts to support the Government of DRC and maintain and strengthen CHAI’s reputation as a highly capable organization by cultivating and maintaining close, productive relationships with senior leaders and policymakers in the DRC government and continually identify new opportunities together with the MoH for CHAI to add value and maximize impact- Manage all fundraising efforts for current and new high-impact programmatic areas, including fundraising for CHAI DRC’s strategy, and liaise with CHAI’s global program teams for relevant global fundraising efforts- Lead the DRC country team in defining short-, medium-, and long-term roadmaps to implement DRC’s programmatic strategy- Manage key donor relationships in DRC and globally as related to DRC and identify new potential donors for DRC programs and cultivate relationships with relevant DRC donor portfolio managers - Responsible for coordinating efforts with CHAI's partners and developing and deepening strategic partnerships to expand CHAI’s resources and operational footprint in DRC- Responsible for ensuring strong execution of the country programs to make sure that CHAI’s results meet and exceed our program targets- Take responsibility for some direct programmatic work, when and where needed, in support of the country team, and provide high-quality technical assistance to the government as needed/requested- Demonstrate leadership and provide support to all members of country team while being flexible to provide the level of support needed to teams as the country program growsOperations:- Full accountability for ensuring efficient administrative systems and policies that are aligned with CHAI global policies and are legally compliant within the DRC labor law- Responsible for the development and management of DRC’s annual program budgets, in collaboration with program staff, and ensuring robust financial management and accountability of the country program budgets- Leads recruitment of new staff according to programmatic and operations needs to grow a highly effective and capable team to pursue CHAI’s strategic vision in DRC- Take overall responsibility for the safety and security of CHAI staff in DRC—including physical, mental, and emotional health—and ensure appropriate support systems and contingencies are in place and effective, particularly related to security, political crises, and epidemic outbreaksGeneral:- Ensure CHAI’s teams across programmatic, administrative, and technical functions operate at an exceptional standard of performance, achieve maximum impact while delivering on donor and government commitments, and establish and maintain the systems and processes necessary to ensure compliance and value-for-money while creating an entrepreneurial environment that drives toward action, fosters resourceful problem solving, and ensures accountability for results- Facilitate close, collaborative relationships between global and in-country counterparts across programmatic, administrative, and financial functions and maintain proactive, bi-directional communication with CHAI senior leadership to ensure CHAI’s global capabilities are fully leveraged to support country team success
