Program Management- Lead Country Support team to oversee and ensure successful execution of CHAI’s HIV and grant priorities across high-burden HIV countries and regions. The Country Support team works with CHAI country teams to provide end-to-end technical assistance to governments through a blend of advocacy, relationship building, and strategic resource development.- Engage with country leadership to garner buy-in on program objectives, solicit their support for problem resolution, and ensure HIV treatment optimization projects are prioritized.- Serve as a trusted, accessible advisor to governments and CHAI country teams on a variety of ARV and other HIV commodity access topics.- Monitor progress to ensure the achievement of program goals, targets, and objectives; problem-solve as required.- Develop a trusted relationship and dialogue with program leads on other CHAI teams working on HIV projects to foster collaboration and ensure alignment on priorities, strategies, processes, and objectives.- Promote global supply security and uninterrupted access to ARVs through coordination with CHAI’s HIV Market Intelligence team, the ARV Procurement Working Group, and supporting effective national-level monitoring and responding to supply challenges as they arise.- Support the adaptation of both CHAI’s work and national HIV programs to respond to the current global COVID-19 pandemic and support efforts to build more resilient national HIV programs.Team Management- Foster the continuous growth and performance of all direct reports through active coaching and leadership that blends high expectations with intensive support and empathy.- Manage operational and administrative aspects of the team and projects, including timely and accurate reporting of results to donors, budgeting, and recruitment.- As part of the HAP Leadership Team, help to shape the culture and dynamics of Global HAP through regular communication and activities that build team effectiveness and cohesion across geographies and work streams.- Role model the values and mission of CHAI and the behavior norms of Global HAP.Strategy Development- Lead the development and implementation of CHAI’s demand-side HIV treatment optimization strategy – including market entry strategy and scale-up strategies for adult and pediatric HIV treatment commodities – in collaboration with the Senior Director, HAP.- Contribute to development of CHAI’s overall HIV strategy, including development of goals, strategies, and resource mobilization.- Collaborate in shaping CHAI’s ARV Strategy, with a focus on ensuring appropriate prioritization of the product pipeline and activities based on the needs of PLHIV and national governments.- Participate in the development and execution of innovative market shaping and market access strategies, such as catalytic procurement initiatives and related operational research, volume guarantees, and development partnerships.- Engage with donors and collaborate with the Senior Director to develop innovative ideas and write grant proposals to strengthen HIV treatment programs.- Work to identify and engage new donors for CHAI’s HIV treatment agenda.Global Stakeholder Engagement- Manage and build relationships with various external stakeholders, including UN organizations, donors, implementing partners, community partners, technical partners, and suppliers.- Develop partner engagement strategy, and oversee partner engagement by Country Support team members.- Represent CHAI in international fora to guide product development priorities, global guidance, and coordination to accelerate the development and increase uptake of optimal new treatment products, such as the Global Accelerator for Paediatric Formulations (Gap-F), the Child Survival Working Group, FP 2020, etc.
- Serve as the focal point and knowledge center for the Ministry of Health and external partners on CHAI’s support to present new tools for vivax radical cure in Guatemala. - Conduct ministry and external partner stakeholder mapping and interviews to collect information related to coordination between government units for procurement and registration processes - Build expertise on vivax radical cure tools and dissemination of evidence through providing technical support to the Ministry of Health for the planning and implementation of partner coordination meetings and workshops- Develop evaluation framework, tools and plan to support the ministry in gathering information to assess systems for referral, pharmacovigilance and other health system components related to safe, radical cure delivery - Lead development of evaluation reports and evidence dissemination presentations and meetings in coordination with ministry and external partners - Track CHAI grant position-relevant deliverables and support donor reporting processes- Coordinate with CHAI subnational team to simultaneously provide targeted support and relay implementation feedback to central level - Represent CHAI in external meetings to provide project updates and technical guidance on safe radical cure activities- Support the Ministry of Health in developing or revising case management training materials, job aids, guidelines and other materials as required for trainings for central and sub-national level staff - Other duties as assigned.

Across countries and projects, the Associate will have the following responsibilities: Gathering and System Design (20%)- Work with CHAI regional Health Information teams to understand technological and non-technological requirements for malaria surveillance across epidemiology, vector control, entomology, health promotion, and commodity use cases.- Develop coherent and technology-appropriate specifications for meeting user requirements across countries and regions, particularly DHIS2-appropriate specifications.Technology Project Management (20%)- Test developer outputs and provide regular feedback on bugs and functionality to ensure solutions are being developed according to specifications.- Effectively communicate to developers the latest development needs and priorities, oversee developers and make sure deadlines are met.Software configuration and development (30%)- Configure, update, and thoroughly test DHIS2 core set up, including updates to organization units, data elements, indicators, data collection forms, and dashboards based on country requirements and feedback from users.- Support configuring and comprehensive testing of DHIS2 Android applications for country specific configurations.- Build scripts for data manipulation and processing to stress test system load, build customizations in DHIS2, run analytics on data integrity, and reproduce system functionality to ensure systems data quality.- Support systems integration efforts as needed, primarily between DHIS2 instances, and between DHIS2 and other systems.- Support server management and configuration in countries.- Guarantee health informatics teams at the MOHs are technically capable to absorb and provide the necessary support to all developments.Technology Implementation and Training (30%)- Assist with capacity building for government staff by developing manuals, SOPs, training materials and helping train country staff in the use of information technology.- Develop testing templates and lead end to end testing processes of different information systems prior to roll-out.- Develop and iterate on data outputs to effectively builddashboards and reports for decision-making.- Support development of proper documentation for digital solutions.- Support development of proper helpdesk structures in countries implementations.- Support the design and execution of M&E plans to evaluate implementation of the tools.Any other tasks identified.
- Support design of monitoring and evaluation systems and/or assessment tools, and transpose program learnings into actionable scale-up plans - Conduct literature/desk reviews and synthesis of key data from early adopter research- Assist country teams in the development of assessment tools, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data - Design electronic data collection systems and support CHAI country teams in collecting and managing data- Carry out research, analyses, and quantitative models and translate their results into actionable and policy-relevant recommendations- Build the capacity of country teams to analyze and use data generated from the program activities, including data management best practices through training and mentoring- Serve as a key technical advisor to CHAI country teams on the evaluation and operational research studies of new diagnostic products;- Develop and/or maintain data dashboards for program monitoring- Support evaluation, documentation and dissemination of results and lessons learned from CHAI's work- Other responsibilities as needed
- Provide technical support and bandwidth across country teams on a broad range of activities, including but not limited to Covid-19 testing-related strategy and planning, forecasting, procurements, and supply chain management, etc.- Work closely with country teams on country support and facilitate involvement of topic area experts from LST or other CHAI teams on country work streams as required- Lead preparations of presentations, reports, and other analyses to inform global and country-level strategy on Covid-19 testing- Develop dissemination materials to facilitate cross-country and global knowledge sharing. - Support internal and external reporting requirements and coordinate with global and country teams, as needed, to seek inputs- Up to 50% international travel time could be required once situation allows- Other responsibilities as needed
The Volunteer will assist the Global SRH team in areas such as:- Organizing and compiling documentation of program activities- Conducting reviews of country national plans, surveys, data and other literature and synthesizing country fact packs for countries in the West Central Africa and South East Asia region to establish repositories of country background and context on a range of SRH topics for use in concept notes, proposals, etc.- Consolidating up to date information on the new injectable contraceptive, DMPA-SC, into a product fact pack for internal CHAI use- Other tasks as requested by country or global team members, including data cleaning and management or organization of data and files and writing, editing and formatting reports and proposals
General Legal Advisory- Provide legal counsel to CHAI’s leadership teams on legal matters related to all aspects of CHAI’s operations.- Participate and contribute to the overall management of CHAI. The CHAI Senior Leadership Team will expect timely reliable information and insights into major legal issues facing CHAI, as well as the practicality of alternative strategies or decisions.- Partner with CHAI’s contracts department and its key work in the development and review of the organization’s agreements.- Oversee protection of CHAI’s intellectual property rights.- In partnership with CHAI country leadership and operations functions, and CHAI’s external general counsel, select and partner with outside counsel in local jurisdictions.- In conjunction with local counsel, oversee dispute resolution.- Develop operational efficiencies in advising on legal and tax ramifications CHAI business.- Advise Finance and HR teams on organizational tax questions, working with external experts to address key areas of concern.- Provide or arrange legal advice on a broad range of human resources matters for national and international staff, including employment contracts, hiring, separation, benefits, leaves, anti-discrimination, immigration, conflict of interest, and general labor and employment regulations.- Support program teams’ proposal and grant writing efforts to ensure grant development meets organizational best practices, quality standards and compliance.Corporate Structure and Governance- Advise CHAI leadership in the set up and structure of in-country presence in CHAI’s program and non-program countries.- Provide continued guidance and compliance support to CHAI’s country leadership and global operations teams in the ongoing maintenance of CHAI’s entity structures.- Provide support to CHAI’s Board of Directors and SecretaryRisk Management and Compliance- In partnership with CHAI’s leadership teams, review, prioritize, advise, and provide guidance on risk management and compliance projects and strategies.- Advise on organization’s insurance coverages and programs, addressing corporate and local needs and maintaining relationships with insurance providers.- Support the development and management of risk mitigation plans- Be part of the Enterprise Risk Management committee and actively supporting the team- Serve as counsel to CHAI’s Safeguarding Committee, which manages complaints and investigations of allegations of misconduct.- Support and promote CHAI's values including CHAI’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Policies and Communication- Partner with senior leadership and communications teams on key messaging and communications with donors, external stakeholders, and government partners, as needed.- Under the direction of CHAI leadership, support compliance training initiatives.and promote employee adherence to CHAI’s business ethics and values.- In partnership with relevant business owners, support and review the drafting and implementation of organizational policies and procedures in finance, HR, global operations, communications, development, and information technology.
Program Management- Actively support country and global HIV prevention teams to develop strategic work plans and monitor progress, identifying challenges and supporting the identification of solutions.- Ensure dissemination of in-country analyses to the global VMMC and/or HIV prevention community.- Proactively communicate to the HIV Prevention Director developments within country programs and the operating environment that may have an impact on grant outcomes.- Meet weekly (or as needed) with the global team and individual global team members for program updates, strategizing and planning purposes. - Maintain internal CHAI relationships with Country Directors and country program leads via monthly touchpoints or more frequently as required based on program needs.- Manage and coach program staff, establish performance goals, and ensure grant deliverables and government milestones are of high quality and produced timeously.- Support HIV Prevention Director in fostering a collaborative team environment which supports and engages team members.- Conduct bi-annual performance appraisals as well as real-time feedback sessions to provide guidance and mentorship to program managers and staff.- Develop, monitor, and effectively manage program budgets ensuring that activities are executed according to the work plan and approved budgets for programs within span of control.Technical Assistance- Build and maintain institutional capacity and identify and facilitate opportunities for inter-country and inter-program knowledge sharing.- Support and review key analyses on major program deliverables including identifying project risks and help develop solutions.Strategy and Grant Development- Support the HIV Prevention Director in refining CHAI’s overall HIV Prevention Strategy and continually identify opportunities for CHAI to add value and maximize impact based on its core strengths.- Working closely with the HIV Prevention Director, support development of future HIV prevention grant proposals.- Develop detailed workplans and preliminary budgets based on grant frameworks.- Work collaboratively with other teams to identify and advance opportunities and synergies for program collaboration.Grant and Stakeholder Management- Manage all donor reporting requirements and ensure grant milestones and deliverables are completed on time and are of high quality.- Together with the HIV Prevention Director, manage all donor related engagements.- Lead in the collaboration and coordination of key partners within the program.- Represent CHAI in key strategic and technical meetings.Other responsibilities as needed.
Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 1) Provide strategic and programmatic support for the design and implementation of key in-country work on COVID-19 and other new vaccine introductions. The successful candidate will provide both strategic and technical support to the select CHAI focal countries on COVID-19 and other new vaccine introductions. These activities will include collaboration with CHAI country program staff to support select CHAI focal countries on:- Decision-making and delivery model optimization to improve logistics and coverage of COVID-19 vaccines amidst rapidly changing circumstances (e.g. supply volumes, timelines, and product presentations). In particular, there will need to be emphasis on supporting CHAI country teams to adapt global tools and guidance to the country specific context. Including:- Facilitation of a review of various product and introduction scenarios to support countries to determine feasibility and risks to introduction readiness; and support countries to identify key challenges for mitigation or potential scenarios where a selected vaccination strategies will ultimately not be feasible on a reasonable timeline- Support focal countries to understand key challenges and intervention needs for service delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine, including but not limited to selecting and reaching target cohorts, novel supply chain challenges, and rapid regulatory needs of vaccinations- Identification of an appropriate mixed delivery model for different segments of the population, and development of recommendations for changing global guidance and vaccine efficacy/safety data for various populations- Rollout planning and preparation to support the implementation of the national introduction preparations, including working with country program staff to anticipate potential challenges to accelerated uptake of COVID-19 vaccine rollout and collaborating across the team to help identify mitigation action to get delayed activities back on track. Critically, during the introduction rollout, the successful candidate will provide technical assistance to country partners and help to adapt global guidelines to the country specific context.- Post-launch support to diagnose bottlenecks and designing bottleneck mitigation strategies at various stages through the introductions, identify concrete opportunities and best practices for boosting COVID-19 vaccination coverage. Depending on the development of the COVID-19 vaccination landscape, successful candidate may also collaborate with select CHAI focal country teams to develop recommendations and strategies on subsequent phases of COVID-19 vaccination, including decision making on issues of product selection, preventative vs reactive vaccination strategies, and integration with routine immunization and primary health care programs.- Continuous development and effective dissemination and use of programmatic lessons learned, and other know-how related to new vaccine introduction across CHAI's vaccines program focus countries and global partners. - Support collection, documentation, and sharing of key lessons learnt in collaboration with CHAI focal countries. These lessons will be shared across CHAI country programs to help accelerate COVID-19 countries and help with cross country sharing and collaboration. - Support global efforts towards developing guidelines towards successful COVID-19 vaccination decision-making, introduction strategy and planning, and post-launch coverage acceleration. This will likely include development of “model” programs that could be scaled, replicated, or leveraged to develop future vaccination strategies. Leveraging lessons learnt from in country work the successful candidate will coordinate with the workstream manager to share these lessons and influence key global guidelines- Technical support (tools, information and lessons learned developed across CHAI’s work) provided to country governments and partners and through global mechanisms that support COVID-19 vaccine interventions and/or service deliveryWhile the focus of this role is expected to be on COVID-19 vaccination, the successful candidate will also be requested to carry out support to other critical new vaccination work within CHAI’s portfolio or scoping, such as infant and HPV vaccination programs as needed. 2) Support the development of CHAI's vaccines program, in collaboration with program and country leadership- Support development of program-wide and country-specific objectives and strategies regarding new vaccine introduction, particularly as related to the long-term arc of COVID-19 vaccination- Support scoping and development of new grants- Develop program thought leadership in new vaccine introduction and complex vaccine service delivery to new target cohorts to deliver against current and future goals3) Support program and grant management, in collaboration with program and country leadership- Assess progress against overall objectives & milestones in areas of focus and help prepare high-quality briefings for donors and CHAI management, including achievements to date, action plan going forward, and key risks & opportunities- Assess effectiveness of CHAI's theory of change and approach related to immunization service delivery in focus countries and recommend improvements- Contribute as a member of the global vaccine team to the effectiveness and collegiality of the team, help identify opportunities and improve CHAI’s vaccines program and team
