The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries, while strengthening the capabilities of governments and the private sector in those countries to create and sustain high-quality health systems that can succeed without our assistance. In recent years, Senegal has invested in the decentralization of its laboratory system to improve access to HIV and TB testing. With the implementation and introduction of point-of-care (POC) devices, biomolecular testing is now accessible in rural health settings. These POC devices allow for multiplexing and have the potential to be used for human papillomavirus (HPV) screening in sites with testing capacity. CHAI has been supporting the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Senegal with the integration of its GeneXpert fleet for TB-HIV testing since 2018 and will continue to support the MOH with a pilot for triple integration of TB-HIV-HPV testing.

Cervical cancer is  the leading cause of  cancer deaths among women in Senegal. HPV testing is only accessible in a few laboratories, and as a result women are diagnosed with cervical cancer at an advanced stage. This drastically reduces their chances of survival. By expanding geographic coverage, this project will increase access to HPV testing and speed up clinical decision making by reducing test turn-around time. This will enable earlier intervention for HPV positive women and lower the rate of advancement to cervical cancer. The project will work to ensure that high quality HPV screening is implemented in selected health centers, and generate evidence to support the scale-up of HPV screening across the GeneXpert fleet.

CHAI is seeking an experienced highly motivated, independent, and flexible Associate to support the pilot of HPV screening on GeneXperts in Senegal. They must be able to function independently with minimal oversight and have a strong commitment to excellence with an eye for detail.
