    CHAI has been working in India since 2004 in close partnership with and under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) at the Central and States’ levels on an array of high priority initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes. Currently CHAI works across projects to expand access to quality care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis-C, tuberculosis, cancer and immunisation. Additionally, CHAI is also supporting the government of Madhya Pradesh (MP) on large-scale programs to arrest childhood and maternal mortality due to malnutrition, anaemia, diarrhoea and pneumonia, and helping increase access to quality Family Planning services.


    In India, CHAI’s Sexual Reproductive Health program is working towards improving access to family planning, safe abortion and post abortion care services in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Key aspects of the project include supply chain management, capacity building and community engagement.


    We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials for the role of Research Analyst. S/He must be able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to excellence.  S/He will: work under the guidance of the Research Manager; work closely with other key teams and stakeholders to lead the on-ground data collection and research activities in MP; and support insight generation and translation. The Research Analyst ensures efficient delivery of high-quality research that provides new insights and generates new evidence for decision-making toward continuous improvement of the SRH programs to maximize impact.


    • Support the development of study design and research and evaluation tools, including research protocols, ethics applications, and standard operating procedures for the household survey;
    • Assist the development of data collection management and analysis tools and templates, including survey tools, observation tools, interview tools, and databases;
    • Support the relationship with a third-party data collection agency and supervise data collection at the household level, with focus on data quality;
    • Support the design and implementation of ongoing quality assurance measures for all electronic and paper data collection activities;
    • Support the training and supervision of data collection teams data sets; compute indicators from raw data, descriptive stats and univariate and bivariate analyses; collapse data, merge different data sets etc.;
    • Generate weekly monitoring and progress reports on fielding as per protocol, data quality, key survey indicators, enumerator efficiency matrices etc. to ensure optimal data collection
    • Support the insight generation process and translation of insights into intervention design;
    • Support the CHAI leadership in presenting study results to key stakeholders;
    • Support the publication and dissemination of findings; and
    • Other responsibilities as requested by supervisor.


    • Master's degree or PhD in a related field such as statistics, economics, epidemiology, monitoring and evaluation;
    • 3-5 years of professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public sector and/or private sector;
    • Experience leading field work for large scale household surveys, with preference for experience in India;
    • Experience analyzing large data sets using statistical software such as Stata, SAS, SPSS or R; is required;
    • Excellent problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills, including attention to detail and fluency in Microsoft Excel;
    • Strong organizational skills;
    • Strong command of English required, Hindi is a strong advantage;
    • Strong communication skills, including development of compelling presentations with the ability to translate technical content and results into formats suitable for various audiences.
