    CHAI has been working in India since 2004 in close partnership with and under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) at the Central and States’ levels on an array of high priority initiatives aimed at improving health outcomes. Currently CHAI works across projects to expand access to quality care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis-C, tuberculosis, cancer and immunisation. Additionally, CHAI is also supporting the government of Madhya Pradesh (MP) on large-scale programs to arrest childhood and maternal mortality due to malnutrition, anaemia, diarrhoea and pneumonia, and helping increase access to quality Family Planning services.

     

    In India, CHAI’s Family Planning program is working towards improving access to safe sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, including a wide range of high-quality contraceptive choices and safe termination of pregnancy care.

     

    The Sexual Reproductive Health program at CHAI is looking for a Communications Manager to develop demand generation and community engagement strategy and enable implementation in the four target districts of Guna, Panna, Sehore and Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh.

     

    CHAI is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual with background in designing community engagement strategies in data - scarce settings, managing large-scale communications projects including operationalizing and impact tracking. Successful candidates will have proven track record of structuring end-to-end engagement strategies from target group identification, mode of engagement to budgeting and impact tracking framework. He /she would also have experience operationalizing strategy including managing budgets and enabling quality and timely reporting on programmatic impact and financial indicators.     Responsibilities

    • Develop CHAI SRH demand generation and community engagement strategy with tailored strategy for unmarried adolescents, married adolescents and newlyweds
    • Define strategic positioning, brand architecture, communication strategy and overall business plan integration for the program
    • Manage relationships with government and state levels to ensure alignment of CHAI SRH communications strategy with government priorities and implementation of strategy
    • Strategize and plan large-scale 360 demand generation efforts in rural areas that incorporates various forms of media, social mobilization and inter-personal communication (IPC) to increase awareness
    • Design and execute innovative on-ground community engagement activities like activations, product launches, road shows, events, etc.
    • Design and execute innovative training and capacity building modules to increase retention
    • Develop budgeted activity plans and ensure periodic reporting on expenses
    • Develop impact mechanisms and ensure ongoing monitoring and reporting on demand generation activities
    • Identify and manage vendors for effective and timely delivery of SRH communications strategy
    • Assess on-ground situation through regular field visits and tailor strategy accordingly
    • Analyze and review market response/requirements and communicate the same to the sales team for accomplishment of business goals
    • Other responsibilities as needed

    Qualifications

    • Advanced degree, preferably a MBA (marketing) or a degree in communications with min 10 years of experience in handling communication campaigns and proven results
    • Experience in family planning, safe abortions and/or rural marketing preferred
    • Ability to structure an end-to-end engagement strategies from target group identification, mode of engagement to impact tracking
    • Strong data management/Excel skills
    • Ability to write strong briefs and co-ordinate with agencies (Advertising, media, research, activation) for timely execution of tasks given and ensure compliances
    • Demonstrated success in coordinating various stakeholders/interests and developing strong relationships in order to drive a process successfully
    • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and be effective under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations
    • Highly entrepreneurial and with strong self-motivation
    • Strong problem solving skills and analytical capabilities, as well as creative thinking capabilities
    • Ability to work independently, flexibly and responsively, with a strong commitment to excellence
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills and a high degree of self-confidence.
