    The Safety & Security Department works with CHAI staff and leadership to build systems and policies that support staff members’ ability to complete programming safely and responds to incidents involving or affecting staff. The Global Operations Team provides support to global, country and operational teams including but not limited to country set up and close out, program expansion, country registrations and overall operational support for countries where there is no CHAI office.


    The Coordinator will work with the Regional Support Managers within the Safety and Security (S&S) Department to improve the delivery of resources and communications related to S&S at CHAI and to support CHAI’s global operational needs, including global meeting planning and support, working closely with the Global Operations Team. This individual will be responsible for providing support to all global teams and operations teams, including day-to-day support and risk mitigation, and will participate in incident response efforts. This multi-faceted position presents a unique opportunity to build relationships within CHAI’s operations, country and programming teams and to gain an understanding of the risk management functions within an S&S Department, as well as exposure to the operational needs of an international non-governmental organization.


    Safety and Security:

    • Provides administrative support to the S&S Department, including the day-to-day work planning and execution of team strategies
    • Acts as the primary liaison with all global operations teams
    • Shares responsibilities with Regional Safety and Security Managers for incident response management across all CHAI teams, with specific responsibilities for global teams
    • Develops and coordinates accurate reporting to be shared as needed with a variety of audiences, including CHAI leadership
    • Manages and tracks incidents and develops all incident reports for CHAI leadership
    • Develops and maintains tools to support travelers and staff, including trainings and resources
    • Manages the performance of the TRIPS System (CHAI’s staff travel tracking software) and leads initiatives to increase participation in and usefulness of the system; this computer software program aggregates travel itineraries for staff members and allows the organization to identify staff who may be affected by large-scale incidents
    • Maintains and routinely updates S&S Website

    Global Operations:

    • Works closely with colleagues on the Global Operations Team to support diverse work streams as they are identified as priorities or gaps
    • Supports global meetings of ~100 CHAI staff members in diverse locations, including the identification of venues, the completion of contracts with venues, and in-person assistance to staff members during meetings
    • Interfaces with various CHAI staff to maintain Global Calendar
    • Undertakes routine maintenance of company meeting coordination materials
    • As needed, supports the Director of Global Operations
    • Addresses ad hoc staff queries
    • International travel may be required (<30%)
    • Other responsibities as needed


    • Bachelor's degree; minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role or capacity
    • Strong organizational skills, including tracking and supporting multiple work streams for diverse colleagues
    • Ability to plan work streams in advance in a detailed manner
    • Strong ability to be self-driven in the completion of day to day tasks
    • Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and set priorities
    • Ability to work with leaders at the highest level of the organization, including providing recommendations that are based on thoughtful and accurate critical analysis and demonstrate sound judgement
    • Strong work ethic, supported by commitment and follow-through
    • Ability to communicate effectively with people of varied professional, cultural, and educational backgrounds and under pressure
    • Practical project management experience, including working with various stakeholders across numerous departments
    • High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet applications
    • Demonstrated interest in international operations or affairs
