    The Treasury Department oversees the organization's cash and capital management, currency administration and engagement with banking services provider(s) globally. The department oversees allocation and use of donor funds and operating funds. The function is responsible for validating cash transactions, assessing currency risks and investments of donor contributions to optimize and improve value of program funds.

     

    Reporting to Director Treasury; a successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the continued development of the department with the focus on monthly reporting and processes necessary to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

     

    Key measures of success in this role include: timely and accurate reporting on program funds, variances analysis between planned disbursement and actual; effective partnering with internal finance teams in Boston; proactive identification and resolution of differences between accounting and financial planning; implement effective process improvements workflows related to departments deliverables.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare monthly financial reports on schedule covering – cash; investment and currency
    • Organize documentation and prepare reconciliation reports covering monthly treasury deliverables
    • Prepare annual, quarterly and multiyear funding forecast at grant and organization level
    • Update and maintain grant income and cash monitoring and tracking models
    • Monitor cash flows and currency trends; perform trend and scenarios analysis as needed with market/external data
    • Review costs and perform cost benefit analyses related to projects and/or programs Recommend cost improvement measures related to program financing and investments
    • Record, classify, and summarize cash /revenue transactions and events in accordance with treasury procedures and policies
    • Collaborate with finance functional teams in Boston across treasury activities
    • Work effectively and collaboratively in support of building a team-based culture of work
    • Use various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to analyze data and generate summary reports
    • Look for opportunities to drive process improvements and create work efficiencies
    • Perform other tasks as necessary

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
    • 3-5 years of professional experience
    • Strong familiarity with financial systems including, but not limited to: Cash management, Accounting, Budgeting, Management reporting, Expense recording and reporting, Project databases
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential
    • Advanced financial analysis and financial modeling skills preferred
    • Expertise in technical and complex financial knowledge – for instance activity based costing, and NPV analysis
    • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as with a team
    • Proven customer service orientation and ability to work collaboratively with diverse finance groups
    • Organized and deadline driven
    • Process improvement mindset, looks for more efficient ways of working

     

    Preferred

    • Completed or pursuing - Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science in Finance (MSF) or Certification for Treasury Professional (CTP) is preferred
    • Prior experience with an international non-profit/NGO
    • International experience is an advantage
    • Knowledge of developing country economics and capital markets is an advantage
    • Strong academic background with excellent quantitative skill is a plus
    • Experience with cash management, treasury services and banking is a plus
