    CHAI is building on its overall supply chain work in Madhya Pradesh to support the development and execution of ambitious new efforts to reduce chronic malnutrition, anemia, pneumonia and diarrhoea in Madhya Pradesh. The supply chain component particularly focuses on (a) reducing the burden of anaemia for adolescent girls and pregnant women by strengthening Iron Folic Acid supply chain ; (b) Developing forecasting model for cross cutting commodities (c) Building and  implementing strategies to improve stock availability. 


    Position Overview

    CHAI is looking for a volunteer who can work closely with supply chain team at Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). She/he shall be hired with a fixed term contract for up to six months. Demonstrated application of analytical skills and problem solving in complex environments would be essential. Previous exposure to strategy and / or supply chain projects and / or working on outputs for senior leadership, especially with the government, would help bolster the application.


    • Work closely with the program manager, to support transformational interventions and advocate for key policy changes to further the goals of the programs
    • Support and execute analysis (forecasting, quantification and supply chain management of essential medicines, etc.) for the state and produce outputs with minimal supervision
    • Collaborate with the progress of various functional teams in Madhya Pradesh so that cross-functional work plans are executed efficiently. Ensure delivery within strict timelines
    • Support implementation efforts and monitoring for stock availability of essential medicines.
    • Contributing to critical projects, especially the ongoing efforts to reduce malnutrition, pneumonia and diarrhoea
    • Develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders like the state government, health workers, other NGOs and private sector
    • Undertake any other duties as requested by the Program Associate or Associate Director


    Because of the evolving nature of the work, specific responsibilities may change over time.


    • Bachelor's degree in in economics, public health, public policy, or related fields
    • Master in public health or related discipline having supply chain/operations as elective would be preferred
    • Exceptional analytical, research, and presentation skills for both qualitative and quantitative
    • Strong problem solving skills and a positive, solution-oriented approach to challenges
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and work independently
    • Ability to absorb and concisely synthesize a broad range of information, especially technical manufacturing information
    • Experience in consulting, investment banking, supply chain, medical equipment industry or public health programme strategy would be preferred
    • Willingness to travel to remote locations (10-12 day in a month) within the state at short notice
    • Fluency in English and Hindi
