  • Overview

    The India Hepatitis C (HCV) team works towards addressing barriers to patient access to care and fosters a healthy competitive marketplace for essential HCV diagnostic testing and treatment. The team works closely with Ministry of Health, diagnostics manufacturers, and other multilateral organizations to increase access to testing and treatment, accelerate entry and uptake of new innovative products for HCV testing and treatment, and lower prices for HCV commodities.


    The HCV team has been providing strategic and operational support to the government of Punjab’s public health program for Hepatitis-C since 2016. It has supported the program in developing costed strategic and operational plans, monitoring and evaluation tools to monitor and measure program performance, and designed active screening strategies through identification of high-risk geographies and populations. The HCV team has also been working at the national level with the National AIDS control organization (NACO) to develop their strategic and operational plans for management of Hepatitis-C among the HIV patient population.



    The Manager – HCV program will be responsible for driving CHAI’s Hepatitis-C strategy in alignment with the development objectives of India’s central and state governments. The Manager will also lead the HCV team as it achieves operational excellence, expands CHAI’s scope of engagement and involvement with the HCV program of Punjab, and engages with national level stakeholders at NACO and National Program for Viral Hepatitis.

    • Help achieve operational excellence through analytics, develop program strategy and ensure that the program is on-track to achieve its objectives
    • Manage a cross-functional team by establishing program goals, supervising task execution and monitoring project progress
    • Reinforce strong, collaborative relationships with the state and national stakeholders and support government leadership and priorities
    • Work closely with the existing and upcoming public HCV programs to identify and bridge gaps pertaining to supply chain, active case finding, capacity building and monitoring and evaluation
    • Responsible for recruitment and management of a high-performing team
    • Co-ordinate with other local and international development partners to leverage complementary expertise, funding and/or relationships
    • Draw on CHAI’s global and local expertise in demand generation and supply-side engagement proactively and work in a collaborative manner with cross-cultural teams
    • Work with global and in-country leadership to identify and pursue fund-raising opportunities
    • Responsible for determining annual budget and allocation for programmatic activities, and regularly monitoring budget utilization


    • Fluency in English & Hindi
    • Bachelor’s in Economics, Business, Bachelor’s of Technology or Other Quantitative Subjects
    • MBA or a Masters’ Degree in Other Quantitative Disciplines
    • Minimum of 8-10 years’ work experience in a public or private sector enterprise, with relevant mid-management leadership experience
    • Strong data management/excel skills
    • Highly entrepreneurial and with strong self-motivation
    • Demonstrated success in coordinating various stakeholders/interests (public sector engagement would be highly relevant) and developing strong relationships in order to drive a process successfully
    • Strong problem solving skills and analytical capabilities, as well as creative thinking capabilities
    • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and deliver under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations
    • Ability to work independently, flexibly and responsively, with a strong commitment to excellence
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills and a high degree of self-confidence



    • Work experience in a consulting, investment banking or a fast-paced results oriented organization
    • Experience working with the public sector and managing cross-sectoral team
