Overview

Founded in 2002, by President William J. Clinton and Ira C. Magaziner, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (“CHAI”) is a global health organization committed to saving lives, reducing the burden of disease and strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world.

The New Market Opportunities Team (NMOT) within CHAI’s Access group is one charged with the identification of strategically aligned donors and funding to CHAI’s Access group; the translation of fact-based insights into initiatives that deliver practical, transformational solutions to important health issues; and measuring Access’ development impact. Through identifying new opportunities, and the appropriate market interventions, CHAI may ultimately be able to help save more lives by ensuring greater access to testing and treatment.

As an Associate on CHAI’s New Market Opportunities Team, you will evaluate opportunities for CHAI, or the international donor community, to support new health commodity and/or programmatic interventions targeting low or middle income countries. You will also be expected to develop project work plans, analyze market opportunities in the context of diagnostic studies, collect and synthesize data from internal and external sources, communicate findings in a clear and compelling manner to senior stakeholders - both inside and external to CHAI, and build effective working relationships with CHAI colleagues and other stakeholders. You should function independently and flexibly and have a deep personal commitment to producing the highest quality results. CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, entrepreneurialism, tenacity, independence, humility, and work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new programmatic opportunities for CHAI with a specific focus on themes that are cross-cutting (e.g. supply chains, service delivery) or complementary (e.g. comorbidities) to current CHAI programs;
  • Support the design and conceptualization of pilots and new initiatives with business case development, market research and stakeholder coordination;
  • Support CHAI programs and country teams with market assessments for pipeline or newly registered health commodities by implementing a basic technology and commercial assessment including a review of public domain performance information, analyzing demonstrated value for money from trials or pilots and evaluating the risks and benefits from inclusion into existing or evolving treatment or diagnostic cascades in CHAI partner countries;
  • Analyze the development impact potential for companies and/or health focused organizations that provide transformative solutions to critical health needs in CHAI partner countries;
  • Assist the NMOT team in the completion of commodity or market analyses on behalf of existing CHAI programs or donors.
  • Document best practices around service delivery models, supply chains, data management, the utilization of e-health, and financing models to build on existing CHAI and donor knowledge.
  • Other responsibilities as needed by supervisor
