CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. About the Program

In 2014, CHAI began working in Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC) to support the Ministries of Health in their goal to eliminate malaria. Since then, CHAI has continuously grown in the region and has worked on multiple projects including digital health, dengue, essential medicines, and medical oxygen. CHAI provides support to various countries: Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, among others.

CHAI’s LAC Malaria & Neglected Tropical Diseases program provides direct technical and operational support to countries in the region to strengthen their vector borne diseases programs and reduce the burden of malaria, dengue, and other neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).

In Guatemala, CHAI’s LAC Malaria & Neglected Tropical Diseases program is helping the government to scale up effective interventions for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance, to achieve malaria elimination and to reduce the incidence and mortality of dengue.

Overview of Role

The Case Management Associate will be a key member of the CHAI team, providing technical, operational, and management support to the Ministry of Health for the effective implementation of malaria elimination, with particular focus on all aspects related to the introduction of safe radical cure for P. vivax, implementation of chemoprevention strategies, treatment guidelines, and supply chain management. In addition to optimizing use of existing tools for radical cure, the associate will help explore the potential introduction and scale up of new promising tools for radical cure of P. vivax that are about to enter the market. The role requires a high level of coordination with the Ministry of Health, and strategic partners, and the CHAI team at global, central and subnational levels. The associate will support the MoH with the goal of identifying strategies to improve the management of malaria cases at the local level, as well as the identification and introduction of innovative tools that are useful in the national context and help accelerate malaria elimination.

The position reports to the Country Program Manager with close coordination and technical support from regional commodities access technical lead. The position also collaborates closely with the Subnational Associates of CHAI to implement operational plans. In-country travel and occasional regional travel is expected on an as-needed basis (50% of time).

• Serve as the focal point and knowledge center for the Ministry of Health and external partners on CHAI’s support to implement new tools for radical cure in Guatemala.
• Build expertise on radical cure tools and dissemination of evidence through providing technical support to the Ministry of Health for the planning and implementation of partner coordination meetings and workshops.
• Develop evaluation framework, tools, and plan to support the ministry in gathering information to assess systems for referral, pharmacovigilance, and other health system components related to safe, radical cure delivery.
• Lead development of evaluation reports and evidence dissemination presentations and meetings in coordination with ministry and external partners
• Track CHAI grant position-relevant deliverables and support donor reporting processes
• Coordinate with CHAI subnational team to simultaneously provide targeted support, on field, in the implementation of operational and strategic plans and relay implementation feedback to central level and external regional partners.
• Represent CHAI in external meetings to provide programmatic updates and technical guidance on safe radical cure activities, chemoprevention, treatment guidelines, and supply chain.
• Support the Ministry of Health in developing or revising case management, chemoprevention, treatment guidelines, and supply chain training materials, job aids, guidelines, and other materials as required for trainings for central and sub-national level staff. 
• Provide input and develop plans to address the malaria related problems on migration along with the partners and the Ministry of Health.
• Other duties as assigned by the Country Program Manager.

• Master’s degree in public health, global health, public policy, or similar.
• 2-3 years of work experience in the private or public sector.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving approach;
• Ability to build relationships, navigate complex government processes, and influence decision-making in a professional and collaborative manner.
• Advanced Excel skills and exceptional communication skills, including the ability to create compelling, logical presentations using PowerPoint and other tools, and a structured and assured oral and written communication style.
• Written and oral fluency in English and Spanish
